Task 4 - Evaluation

The research that I carried out on digitally published products was very useful as it gave me an idea on the different ways I could structure my articles and what techniques I could use to make it a success. it helped me mostly with the layouts and how I could place my margins. I also was able to see how the language would change according to the purpose and target audience of the articles, showing me that I would need to change my language also with mode of address.

When pitching my idea it was hard because I knew what I wanted to talk about but at times, I didn't know what to talk about which delayed me a bit. I wrote my first article the best I could and I when I gave it in, I received feedback that helped me structure my article better than I was able to in the beginning. what I didn't realise was that I was writing very formally, so it didn't suit my target audience which meant I wasn't meeting the aims of the brief. I struggled to change the language as I thought I was talking to suit the audiences. I knew what language feature I wanted to use and what to include in my articles from looking at other ones. I used the drop cap at the beginning of every article.

I think my pre production was done well and I managed my time wisely. I did everything according to my call sheet. my article didn't need models as it was about an object so I took pictures of it in my spare time as well as the times I wanted to do it on my call sheet. I had all the resources I needed to take my pictures.

Whilst using InDesign, I was able to import the images and change the layout, size and orientation of these images. I also flipped the image so it would be on the opposite side. I added  my articles in the columns very easily however I had a few issues when the text was too small and when id try enlarging it, it would be too big for the boxes. I would have to keep trying to make it fit by changing the box sizes and changing the margins and the gutter. adding background colour to my article was easy although I struggled a bit as I didn't know where the fill button was.

I stored my written material very well as I would write it up in the notes page of my phone in my spare time so that I was always doing work when I was available. I would then email it to myself and open it up on a computer to then copy and paste it into my InDesign template. so I had my work saved in my phone, on my email and saved in the template.my work was also uploaded onto blogger so my teacher was able to mark it.

Adaptation 2 - Children

as a young child you always want to explore the world and learn to do new things right? when you see older kids and teenagers starting a trend, you want to get involved because we want to grow up so fast and do what we want. I'm guessing we also feel this way with dress senses and clothing trends. we have the urge to be like older kids so we copy their fashion choices.

sliders are one of the new trends that have come. those of us who have older siblings may see the trends evolving and coming into the light. we all know that trends only start because we want to be like the celebrities that we see on our favourite TV shows and our favourite singers and rappers.

if you have older siblings who love to keep in with trends, you may be aware of the most popular brands of sliders that everyone wants. These are nike adidas and Puma. and for the girls, there are also the fluffy unbranded ones that every princess wants to have. did you know that they were inspired b y Rihanna's Fenty sliders while the sliders trend started from footballers who would put on sliders after playing long football matches or training very hard. we all want to keep up with the newest trends to seem cool.

here are a few tips to achieve this:
- wear socks with branded sliders and match them with other clothing from the same brand. ( for example , nike sliders with a nike top and jeans.)
- don't wear many colours and keep your outfit simple to match your sliders
- colour coordinate you sliders to match a piece of clothing you are wearing.

As new trends have started, prices for these items have also gone up meaning that our expenditure has also increased. Very unfortunate right? Well Im sure we are all aware that sliders have become the next new thing in youth culture. the main reason for this are because of famous people and celebrities wearing new clothing and promoting them on social media increasing the demand for new fashion accessories.
Aswell as this being a new thing in the youth culture, it is also beginning to be a thing for adults as we also like keeping up with trends.

the main branded sliders that are out there are puma, adidas, and nike. these came to light as professional footballers started the trend wearing sliders after long football matches. the public then started following these trends and made them fashionable. Even though we are all human, we all have different reasons for wearing sliders. Did you know that the majority of youths only wear sliders due to new fashion trends and because of influence of others around them. Sliders are also beginning to be used by adults aswell as youths. When asked why, adults responded that after a long day at work they like to slip into something comfy or that they wear them just as a fashionable item.

as adults we wear sliders differently to youths. here are a few tips on how to wear them to a unique standard:
- wear them with jeans and a top to match
- simple outfits - don't over do it
- when the sun comes out paint your toes matching your finger nails (women)

Sliders have become such a great accessory to life due to its comfort and its feature as doubling as both indoor and outdoor footwear and this has had so much of an effect on the public that it has become suitable to wear in all seasons of the year. First Draft

Slip 'n' Slide

Over the years, trends have changed massively and excessively throughout the youth culture. prices have also gone up with this making it very difficult to keep up with trends. As we know, sliders are the next new thing! They have become a great fashionable accessory especially to the youth culture. the main reason to this are because of famous people and celebrities' wearing new clothing and promoting them on social media increasing the demand for new fashion accessories.
The main branded sliders that are out there are puma, Adidas and Nike. These came to the light as professional footballers started the trend wearing sliders after long football matches. The public then started following these trends and made them fashionable. Many people in east London walk around with sliders on a daily basis. Members of the public wearing sliders were asked why they do so. Responses varied to things like  , its very comfortable and its quick to put on. We know that east London youths love to keep up with trends just as much as youths across the whole of London however, Newham had the second highest child poverty rate across London (41%) and the highest proportion of children in working families receiving tax credits (44%). this shows that many people struggle to keep up with trends financially.

Tips.
- same colour socks with sliders are a cool thing to do especially if wearing a colour coordinated clothes. block or white socks also go with any colour outfit.
- white tee with jeans and Fenty sliders for girls this summer looks really nice with your toes painted your desire colour.

JOURNALISM 2 - TASK 1C

LEGAL, ETHICAL AND MORAL.

The purpose of my article is to communicate with the youths and celebrate part of the youth culture in east London. I want to talk about the different styles and ways youth culture has an impact on their lives. I am fully aware that writing this article can have issues that may offend people however I will make sure that I avoid doing so.  I wont be sure to make anyone feel down or feel as if they don't belong in the youth culture, I want everyone to be involved. I will do this by addressing the readers as a whole collective instead of addressing them by smaller groups or individuals and excluding people.

I will only include facts and figures that have been confirmed by reliable sources and not make anything up in my articles that may portray anyone in a negative manner. I want to appeal to all types of youths so I will not be racist or offend any religious beliefs or ways of living and there will be nothing to imply stereotypes or rude attitudes towards anyone regarding race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age.

I am also aware that fashion is something that varies from individual to individuals so I wont intend to offend the way anyone dresses or say anything that would break their self confidence. there will be nothing in my article that are inappropriate or unsuitable for my target audience. As my article is aimed at youths, I will be prevented from using explicit language or any adult humour which is inappropriate or offensive. I am to make sure everything is I include in my article doesn't harm anybody emotionally, mentally or any other way. my article will not contain or promote any dangerous or reckless behaviour and also not encourage youths to behave a certain type of way.

As there are some sliders that are branded, I will not want to badmouth their companies or make their companies lose customers. I will try my best to balance out positive comments between all brands that I talk about and not offend any of their copyright laws.  I also don't intend for my article to create fear or distress to anyone. for safety and protection, I will not be using anybody's identity without their permission or involve them in anything that could compromise their safety.

The most important thing I must do is make sure that everything I discuss in my article relates to my chosen topic and is not irrelevant information that doesn't help but only make the audience feel exposed to any of these offenses.

As my article is going to be published In an e-zine, I know that The PCC and OFCOM have the power to remove any content of my article that they believe is inappropriate and does not belong in my article if they feel like the audience is at any risk and that Since I want to put my article on Snapchat, they also have rights over the content I display via their app. The slider brands that I sue will also be able to sue me for libel or anything I say that may portray their brand negatively.

JOURNALISM 2 - TASK 1B

Proposal.

Slides/Sliders are slippers (branded or unbranded) that are worn by many types of people for very different occasions and I want to write an article about sliders called ‘ Slip n Slide’ explaining their journey to fame showing how much of a great fashionable accessory they have become. I decided the name as we slip on sliders and as they are about slides I wanted to include the name in them. An idea I had was to also talk about how and why trends change and how they affect income of residents in east London with youths. Slides are worn by people all ages but the main group of people who wear slides are youths across the whole world. Because of this, my target audience will be youths specifically youths in East London (Male and female). The purpose of this article is to inform the audience more about sliders to their benefit and also give them tips on how and where they can wear them to.

My article would be published in a double paged spread of an E-zine given that my target audience are youths who use online methods such as websites and social media a lot of more than traditional methods such as magazines and newspapers to read information. As youths use a lot of social media, I would also like to publish my second article on social media as an extended article in a way that the audience can interact with my article so it appeals to them. My double page spread would include information about the history of sliders and how they have become more popular. I would have images pf the different types of ways sliders are worn and articles about celebrities wearing sliders.

As my article are target to both genders I want to split the pages and have one page for females and the other for males with tips for both genders. As most sliders are branded, I also want to talk about the different brands. On my online article I want to do an extended article about the first which would  include a survey asking my audience about their sliders such as how many pairs of sliders they own, what brands are they, how much they spend on sliders etc. to show how much of an impact sliders have on the youth.

I intend on covering the whole spread with information as well as images. I want to include images of sliders that I will take myself of me and other people modelling them with outfits and include this in my tips section. I may also include this on the online article so that my readers that may not read this via e-zine can also see this online giving them another online activity to take part in. I want to put my article on social media Snapchat specifically as it is the most popular social media app used by youths so publishing my article on here would get more attention and have a larger audience base.

As I am putting this on snapchat, my article would only be available for the audience to see for 24 hours only whereas, my double page spread from a e-zine would be around for much longer due to it being available through an app which could be saved.

Resources available to me would be a camera to take photos with and also InDesign for me to edit my images and build up my double page spread. I would have to bring in sliders of my own for this shoot or ask my models to bring in their own for the shoot and other outfits to change in for the tips section. The photoshoots that I am planning for images in my article would take place in the photography studio and also outside when showing the audience tips for different outfits. I will have two models that are male and female to model for both genders.
